Why be a Christian, when life seems more difficult?

"Why should I be a Christian, when it seems like my life is actually more difficult now? It seems like I have less 'friends'. I stand up for truth and it seems like 'I' end up unfairly paying the price. My family members don't seem to want to communicate or interact with me as much. It's much harder work to consciously hold/examine my thoughts (mental stories & commentaries), and respond to them mentally or in action, according to God's word. It seems like it would be much easier to just un-consciously believe them or act them out".

Jesus said that if they've persecuted me, they will persecute you. Doesn't sound like much fun does it? Theologians over the centuries have written volumes on this topic. So, what are some of the thoughts and experiences of the volunteer ministers here at the Christian Healing Blog? When a believer has made a conscious effort to confess with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus is Lord, their identity, their 'I' or 'ME', or 'SOUL', is no longer a slave to the influences of the 'old man self', and becomes united with their 'new man self' (the Holy Trinity: God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit . . .the Word . . the Spirit of Truth)

The Apostle Paul discovered and church teaching confirms, we'll never be completely free from these remnants of the 'old-self' in this life. But, we rejoice with the Truth that since our 'Soul', our 'I', is no longer united with the 'old man self', these negative energies are not 'US' (our identity). This is liberation. This is often the beginning of the healing journey for many. Thus, choosing to be a Christian in this earthly life, brings freedom. A freedom that ultimately leads to a Soul's 'peace which surpasses all understanding', contentment in all circumstances, and God's power being perfected in them in their weakness.
